April 14, 2014

I hate the freakin IRS why do I have to pay I only worked a half a freakin year??  That's really a kick straight to the bum! (Had to change that word!) haha. (Haha!  He thought that he was going to get a big refund!)

Well this week was a good one!   We got a referral, who is now a New Investigator, who is wanting to be baptized.  Her name is Karen Sheckard.  She has alot of LDS family.  Her Brother converted when he married an LDS girl and so did her son.  Her parents converted 2 years ago and were sealed a year ago.  Her dad passed away though about 4 weeks ago, so she got to dress him for burial.  So that's pretty cool!  What investigator is ever gonna be able to do that?  We met her Thursday and  have another appointment scheduled Thursday.  She has a nephew on a mission she told him before he left but then on Thursday she said she is gonna email him and ask if its alright if she gets baptized before he gets home so it pretty exciting!

Elvis is still doing good!  His family still isn't letting him be baptized or come to church though.  So he is still doing what he can.  We were on exchanges with the Zone Leaders on Saturday and we had an OYM challenge (OYM means open your mouth basically talk to someone you haven't met about the gospel, like tracting or street contacting)  Ofcourse me and the zone leader that was with me won!  :)

So what project were they doing up at Luna?  Why are you yelling at me about not telling you about Pres. Greer getting into the 70 you guys should have been watching it! :)  But yeah I forgot to tell you about that.  No he hasn't emailed me yet, you told me he was going to like 2 months ago too.  So idk why he hasn't yet.

Was Rio 2 good?  So thats her new movie huh?  Did Kyle take her out to the lake or did they just sit in the boat?  (Maddie found her life jacket this morning and decided she was going on the boat and going fishing.  She kept signing it to us.  So of course Kyle told her they were going to the Lake to go fishing.  Needless to say she went to school with her swim suit on under her clothes but not before she had put her life jacket on over the clothes and her swim coverup on over that.  I had to send the bus on to school without her because she wasn't getting on until she had at least sat in the boat!  Silly, stubborn child of mine! Love her!)  How did your interviews go? (No luck - still looking for a job!)

Um send the package to the Mission because transfers are next week.  I thought his watch was in the safe I think in a shoe box.  Did you find my watch to send to me though?  And did you get P90x in there?

Thank you for all you do!

Oceanfront Property in Arizona

April 7, 2014

So first off!  Why didn't anyone tell me that George Strait handed down the crown to Luke Bryan??  I know I'm not supposed to be of the world right now, but that is something important enough for me to know haha.  Conference was sikk huh?  Elder Holland droppin bombs telling it how it is!  I have come to love that man!   He use to scare me haha.  The Saturday morning was the best session and the priesthood session.

Chaylee isn't getting transfered to a Hollister in Utah?  What has she been  up to?  So are you happy to get rid of her?  Ha jk your running out of your girls!

I got that picture from Jacque, I have gotten so fat since she left on her mission ha.  But it's coming back off.  Slowly but surely.

Maddie always has the time of her life up at the Ranch, she gets to do whatever the heck she wants!

I will keep my fingers crossed for your job interview.

This week was a good week.  We had dinner with a part member family that we have been kinda teaching.  It's mainly been just answering the husbands questions, who is the non member.  But he told us that he has actually been reading the Book of Mormon, even though he's been telling us that he hasn't been.  And that he is seriously considering Baptism.  He didn't want to tell us because he didn't want to be pushed and wanted it to be his own choice.  Remind you of someone??  (YES!!  This is how Bubba was about his Mission!  He wasn't going to go for anyone but himself.  When he felt the need and desire to go he'd go! - Which is how it should be.  What a great Missionary he is!)  But he now knows that he needs to be baptized, for himself and he doesn't care what his parents think.  He started thinking about it when he found out about baby blessings and father blessings and he wants to be the one to bless his kids.

We also got a Refferal last night.  A lady who just moved into our Ward she was taught a little before she moved and contacted the Bishop and said she wanted us to start teaching her.  The RS President and other Ward members helped her move in yesterday.  She kept telling them how excited she is to meet us and to keep learning.  She kept telling them to tell us and to  make sure that we call her.  She gave us some Applebee's gift cards and some Subway gift cards, so I like her already -  haha! :)

Then it was Conference week, so it was already ment to be a good week and the Temple Wednesday, so it was an awesome week.  I like Conference a whole lot more out here.  Probably because I pay attention and take notes out here.  But the Prophet and Apostles and other leaders are so filled with the Spirit and know what each of us need to hear.  I got the most out of this Conference than ever before!

Thanks for all you guys do for me!

Love,
Elder Bubba Nelson

P.S. - He sent some pictures.  I've been having computer issues so I'll try to send them on!  Thanks for you love, prayers and support!

Oh the people in the "48br0"
I just got outta the Temple too.   It was pretty good!   Except I almost pee'd my pants I drank too much right before.   So the lesson I learned don't drink too much right before the Temple,  haha.   Yes, I can't wait for General Conference!  I'm super excited its gonna be a good one!  Take some pics of the fam at the ranch please!

Well this week was a slower week but it was still a good week.  I can't even really remember what happened since they changed our P-Day to today.  But I still have been doing that 80  day Book of Mormon challenge and came across an awesome verse, it's 2 Nephi 22:2.  All of you should read it!

Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid; for the Lord JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also has become my salvation.

Sorry this email is so short idk what else to say.

Love you all thank you for all the support you give me!

"Cowboy's Like Us"

March 24, 2014
Elvis is doing good.  Still reading the Book of Mormon every day.  Still doing everything he can do with out getting kicked out of his house, ha.  Yes I am excited for General Conference.  I actually like it now.  Probably because I don't sleep through all of it anymore.
About time you finished school Chaylee.  Now your gonna start school again for the 3rd time?  Just pick something!!  Dang girls never make up there minds!
I'm jealous of Kyle that he gets to go Elk hunting!  Better stick one!  Just sling some arrows.  All of ya'll need some stronger immune systems, haha.
Jed should get into BMX that would be pretty sweet!  Well me and Kyle Like girls we just HATE dancing.  Takin girls to the lake or riding is so much better!
Tell Ellie to suck it up, she is a handful to - haha.  I remember Jacque had to put her in her room and tie the door shut all the time, just like Chaylee.  They are the ones that you gotta worry about - haha.

Well this week was pretty good.  We got the most OYM (open your mouths) which means talking with people that you haven't before about the gospel.  But we have got the most this week in this area since I've been here.   We had a few good lessons.  We also got a call from our Ward Mission Leader Saturday night at 10, telling us that we were teaching Gospel Principles yesterday.  I love getting a few hours notice.  But it was a good lesson it was on sacrifice.  No one told me that I'd have to teach Sunday classes and maybe give talks on my mission (Cough) Jacque and T!  Thanks for the heads up - haha.  All is well!  All the bikers are coming out now that it's Spring!  I want a bike so bad!  So when I get home me and the boys and Dad all need to get a Harley or an Indian or something and we can come tour the Mission, you girls too if your down with that.

We started riding our bikes this week.  I almost died the first time biking up the hill to our house.  All my leg muscles were gone.  A lot of it came back already.  The hill is pretty easy now.  That's something I don't have yet, PATIENCE!  Haha!

Well thanks for all you guys do for me! I wouldn't be able to do this with out all of you!

Love you all!

Love,
Elder Bubba Nelson!!
P.S. Jed email me back!

P.S.S.  I'll be writing next Wednesday instead of Monday!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

March 17, 2014

Well it sounds like you've had a fun/busy last couple of weeks.   So Chaylee is moving up to Utah on April 28th huh?  What is she gonna do for work there? That's pretty cool that she is actually doing it though.  How are  Jill and her kids doing?

My week was pretty good.  We had 2 part member families show up to church Sunday that we have been working with.  Got to do some service for this guy we met on the street.  I got new Zone Leaders, I don't like them as much as my old ones, they are way different.  We met with Elvis 2 times this week.  His family is still not letting him be baptized.  But hopefully they will soon.

Thank you for the package I love the socks! and tie.  Can I request a tradition?  haha.   Whenever you send a package, can you put a tie and a pair of sikk socks in there?:)  (Every time I send a package I try to send him a tie, since that is about as exciting as it gets.  But since it was St. Pattie's Day today, I sent a tie with green and some dress socks with green as well.  I guess they were a hit!  Now I've got to be on the look out for ties AND SIKK SOCKS!!  Glad I was able to send him something he was excited to get!  I think he's trying to see how many ties and socks he can come home with.  A boy Chaylee dated this summer told Bubba he came home with over 100 ties.  I think that started it all!)  :-)  My comp. says thanks for the shirt and socks.

Well I hope all is well!  Thanks for all you guys do for me!

1 Nephi 3:14 I believe thats the scripture anyways.   haha!  But read it.  (I read it, not sure what he is implying here!  I guess he'll have to answer my questions next week! - haha!)

What up Family/Friends?

We had transfers calls this week.  I'm staying in the same area with the same companion for the 3rd transfer.  I wasn't expecting for both of us to stay. Both of my Zone Leaders are leaving unfortunately.  This week was pretty good.  We had to take Elvis off date because his family won't let him be baptized as long as he is living in their home.  So he has to move out first.  He still wants us to keep teaching him.  He fasted with us yesterday, that his families hearts would be softened.  And he even came to church.  It was Fast Sunday since Stake Conference was last Sunday.  We had 3 investigators come to church this week, the most that have came since I've been here.  All the testimonies were great the spirit was really strong there.

Sounds like you had a good time in Cali.  We had our little Disneyland rides.  Our zone has a 15 passenger van and on the way over here to email we turned on the frozen sound track and it felt like we were on "Soarin' California"  haha.   Yeah we have a little to much fun.  We are going bowling today for peoples last P-day here.

Has Chaylee decided what school she is going to yet?  Dixie is a party school that's why she wants to go there!   haha.  (Chaylee isn't planning on Dixie!)

How is everyone doing?    All staying outta trouble?   Well have a great week!   Love you all!

GOT SOME!!!!.... New investigators!!

This week was a great week for us.  We had Zone Conference on Tuesday.  So we only had like 4 hours to work that day.  But right when we got out we were walking through an apartment complex and we heard someone yell, "Hey!"   I turned around and didn't see anyone so I kept walking then I heard again " Hey Elders!"   I looked back again and saw a guy on his balcony and he asked us to come over.   We talked with him and found out he shook President Hinckleys hand at the Columbia Temple open house.  He also took the missionary discussions 12 years ago and was about to be baptized but he can't remember why he didn't, but he asked us if we can teach him and get him ready for baptism again.  And we said "Of course".  We set up a church tour with him but he had to cancel then we rescheduled and he got sick.  So hopefully we get to see him this week.
Then we got a New Investigator Friday His name is Elvis. "He was a refferal from the ward.  The ward actually referred him to us.  And it was so great we were like Elvis HI!  And idk how else we would have gotten in (haha only Jacque and T and other missionaries will get that. Its from the District)  But yeah we taught Elvis Friday and just talked about the Book of Mormon with him and read the first chapter with him and asked him to pray right there to know if it was true.  He got the confirmation that it was, so we invited him to be baptized and he accepted!  So we had a pretty amazing week!  This area is finally coming alive it was dead when we got here.
Sounds like the family is doing good!  The Cultural Celebration sounds like it went really well!  Hope all you guys have a good week!  Thanks for all the love and support!  Love you all!
