"Cowboy's Like Us"

March 24, 2014
Elvis is doing good.  Still reading the Book of Mormon every day.  Still doing everything he can do with out getting kicked out of his house, ha.  Yes I am excited for General Conference.  I actually like it now.  Probably because I don't sleep through all of it anymore.
About time you finished school Chaylee.  Now your gonna start school again for the 3rd time?  Just pick something!!  Dang girls never make up there minds!
I'm jealous of Kyle that he gets to go Elk hunting!  Better stick one!  Just sling some arrows.  All of ya'll need some stronger immune systems, haha.
Jed should get into BMX that would be pretty sweet!  Well me and Kyle Like girls we just HATE dancing.  Takin girls to the lake or riding is so much better!
Tell Ellie to suck it up, she is a handful to - haha.  I remember Jacque had to put her in her room and tie the door shut all the time, just like Chaylee.  They are the ones that you gotta worry about - haha.

Well this week was pretty good.  We got the most OYM (open your mouths) which means talking with people that you haven't before about the gospel.  But we have got the most this week in this area since I've been here.   We had a few good lessons.  We also got a call from our Ward Mission Leader Saturday night at 10, telling us that we were teaching Gospel Principles yesterday.  I love getting a few hours notice.  But it was a good lesson it was on sacrifice.  No one told me that I'd have to teach Sunday classes and maybe give talks on my mission (Cough) Jacque and T!  Thanks for the heads up - haha.  All is well!  All the bikers are coming out now that it's Spring!  I want a bike so bad!  So when I get home me and the boys and Dad all need to get a Harley or an Indian or something and we can come tour the Mission, you girls too if your down with that.

We started riding our bikes this week.  I almost died the first time biking up the hill to our house.  All my leg muscles were gone.  A lot of it came back already.  The hill is pretty easy now.  That's something I don't have yet, PATIENCE!  Haha!

Well thanks for all you guys do for me! I wouldn't be able to do this with out all of you!

Love you all!

Love,
Elder Bubba Nelson!!
P.S. Jed email me back!

P.S.S.  I'll be writing next Wednesday instead of Monday!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

March 17, 2014

Well it sounds like you've had a fun/busy last couple of weeks.   So Chaylee is moving up to Utah on April 28th huh?  What is she gonna do for work there? That's pretty cool that she is actually doing it though.  How are  Jill and her kids doing?

My week was pretty good.  We had 2 part member families show up to church Sunday that we have been working with.  Got to do some service for this guy we met on the street.  I got new Zone Leaders, I don't like them as much as my old ones, they are way different.  We met with Elvis 2 times this week.  His family is still not letting him be baptized.  But hopefully they will soon.

Thank you for the package I love the socks! and tie.  Can I request a tradition?  haha.   Whenever you send a package, can you put a tie and a pair of sikk socks in there?:)  (Every time I send a package I try to send him a tie, since that is about as exciting as it gets.  But since it was St. Pattie's Day today, I sent a tie with green and some dress socks with green as well.  I guess they were a hit!  Now I've got to be on the look out for ties AND SIKK SOCKS!!  Glad I was able to send him something he was excited to get!  I think he's trying to see how many ties and socks he can come home with.  A boy Chaylee dated this summer told Bubba he came home with over 100 ties.  I think that started it all!)  :-)  My comp. says thanks for the shirt and socks.

Well I hope all is well!  Thanks for all you guys do for me!

1 Nephi 3:14 I believe thats the scripture anyways.   haha!  But read it.  (I read it, not sure what he is implying here!  I guess he'll have to answer my questions next week! - haha!)

What up Family/Friends?

We had transfers calls this week.  I'm staying in the same area with the same companion for the 3rd transfer.  I wasn't expecting for both of us to stay. Both of my Zone Leaders are leaving unfortunately.  This week was pretty good.  We had to take Elvis off date because his family won't let him be baptized as long as he is living in their home.  So he has to move out first.  He still wants us to keep teaching him.  He fasted with us yesterday, that his families hearts would be softened.  And he even came to church.  It was Fast Sunday since Stake Conference was last Sunday.  We had 3 investigators come to church this week, the most that have came since I've been here.  All the testimonies were great the spirit was really strong there.

Sounds like you had a good time in Cali.  We had our little Disneyland rides.  Our zone has a 15 passenger van and on the way over here to email we turned on the frozen sound track and it felt like we were on "Soarin' California"  haha.   Yeah we have a little to much fun.  We are going bowling today for peoples last P-day here.

Has Chaylee decided what school she is going to yet?  Dixie is a party school that's why she wants to go there!   haha.  (Chaylee isn't planning on Dixie!)

How is everyone doing?    All staying outta trouble?   Well have a great week!   Love you all!

GOT SOME!!!!.... New investigators!!

This week was a great week for us.  We had Zone Conference on Tuesday.  So we only had like 4 hours to work that day.  But right when we got out we were walking through an apartment complex and we heard someone yell, "Hey!"   I turned around and didn't see anyone so I kept walking then I heard again " Hey Elders!"   I looked back again and saw a guy on his balcony and he asked us to come over.   We talked with him and found out he shook President Hinckleys hand at the Columbia Temple open house.  He also took the missionary discussions 12 years ago and was about to be baptized but he can't remember why he didn't, but he asked us if we can teach him and get him ready for baptism again.  And we said "Of course".  We set up a church tour with him but he had to cancel then we rescheduled and he got sick.  So hopefully we get to see him this week.
Then we got a New Investigator Friday His name is Elvis. "He was a refferal from the ward.  The ward actually referred him to us.  And it was so great we were like Elvis HI!  And idk how else we would have gotten in (haha only Jacque and T and other missionaries will get that. Its from the District)  But yeah we taught Elvis Friday and just talked about the Book of Mormon with him and read the first chapter with him and asked him to pray right there to know if it was true.  He got the confirmation that it was, so we invited him to be baptized and he accepted!  So we had a pretty amazing week!  This area is finally coming alive it was dead when we got here.
Sounds like the family is doing good!  The Cultural Celebration sounds like it went really well!  Hope all you guys have a good week!  Thanks for all the love and support!  Love you all!

What's up, What's up??

Hey!!

This week was a pretty good week!   We had an awesome lesson with a Less-Active lady who hasn't been to church in over 40 years, because of some member saying something stupid to her.  So we decided to watch "Come Join WIth Us" - Elder Uchtdorf and it went really well!  She said that it really hit home for her.  That she had no more excuses, and that she thinks that she is wanting to come back.  She couldn't come Sunday because she had to help at a Wounded Warrior thing, but that she should be able to come this coming Sunday!  So please pray that she will do that!  We also found 3 new investigators, Dalton & Denise and also a lady named Lori Wild.  I never met Lori because my companion found her when we were on exchanges.

I thought I thanked Grandma and Grandpa for my birthday present.  I guess not though, I'll write them again and thank them.  Did the Woolseys get my letter?
How is the land doin' up north or did you guys not check on it?  How are the trees doin'?  Sounds like it's good that Grandma moved down! (My mom moved to an apartment in North Mesa)

Why are Ya'll gettin sikk?  Well keep prayin' that I don't get sick I'd hate that!  Sounds like Kyle and Dad are busy But they arent making much out of it?

Yeah Jed was telling me he wanted to do football. He probably would be a good player!

Well I hope you guys have a great week!  Keep Strengthening yourselfs in the gospel!  I need to do the same!  Love you all!

Elder Bubba Nelson

P.S. Attached are a couple of pictures.  Brother Paul Allen called me on Friday and said he was here visiting from Kennewick and had had Bubba in his home for dinner.  He told me what a great Missionary he was and made a mother feel great.  We made arrangements to go meet them on Sunday.  What a joy!!!   I loved meeting and talking to them.  They got married about 5 years ago, after both losing spouses several years ago.  Brother Allen is 90, I can't remember how old Sister Allen is but she served 3 missions after her husband passed away when she was in her 50's.  She said 2 of them were prosolyting and she was companioned with young sisters.  She was darling, always wearing a sweet smile!  Bubba says he loves them and thought it was great that they got married in the 80's!   LOVE IT!!!

Churchless Sunday??

So this week has been pretty crazy!  I spent Tuesday and Wednesday cooped up in my room since my comp was sick, again haha.  His name is Elder Chadwick, by the way.  So that was fun  - I guess.  I finished the Book of Mormon in that time and caught up on my letters.   So tell the Woolseys they should be getting a letter sometime this week and that I'm sorry it took a while.  P-days are super busy here in this zone.  Then it snowed Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  It snowed about 4 inches each time and they usually only get 4-6 inches a year here.  So the roads were really bad because they don't have a lot of snow equipment around here.   It looked like they contracted some construction people to come with there loaders for all the parking lots, then the snowplows that they did have, did the roads.   They cancled all church meetings, it was super weird not going to church on the mission -  haha.

The snow is so bright!  I had to buy some snow boots I was trucking through 8 inches of snow in my dress shoes and that wasn't fun!  But I got a steal on them!   They were $90 but then they were half off because they stopped carrying them and they were the last pair and my size!   A freakin' miracle!   That never happens to me haha.   SO they were like $48 after taxes!

With only being able to work for 3 1/2 days we had a pretty alright week.  We found 3 new people to teach.  2 of which, are part member families, then another young guy -  that when he opens his door I get high from all the weed that comes out - haha jk - but really it's pretty bad!  There names are Josh, Melinda, and Angle.

Sounds like you guys had a pretty good week!  Where is an email from Dad?  It's been like 4 months haha.

I wish i could see the cultural celebration!  When is it being televised??

Well I hope you all have a good week!  Thanks for all the love and support!  Love and miss you all!

6 Months Gone!

Sounds like the Gilbert Temple is amazing!  I can't wait to see it!  The Columbia Temple is so small!  I hear the chandelier was amazing!

This week was pretty good!  We finally found a new investigator, after like a month!  His name is Jason, he is 18 years old, living in an apartment with his friend.  The first question he asked us is how long would one have to be baptized before they can go on a mission.  I didn't know if he was asking for his self or what.  But it was still pretty cool that was his first question.  I guess he has a lot of LDS friends that are about to leave on missions so I think he is just interested in how they all work and what not.

Did you guys get the roof done yet?

Ha maddie is still crappin her self still?  (yes!)  Shes freakin 6 years old tell her to grow the heck up!!  (Any pointers on potty training a stubborn little Down Syndrome girl? - haha!) Haha good job dad on changing a diaper, those are nasty!!

But yeah, this week was pretty good!  We have a training from Salt Lake this week, I don't know what it is, but my Zone Leaders say its supposed to be pretty tight.

Well I hope you all have a good week!  Thanks for all the love and support!  Love and miss you all!
